Island country in Southeast Asia with 17,508 islands.

The main islands are Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi and New Guinea. The most well-known islands to Sumatra and Java are Bali, Gili, Lombok and Flores the small ones.

Indonesia has approximately 274 million inhabitants, more than half of whom live on Java. The capital is of course also on Java – Jakarta.

Indonesia was dependent on Holland for a long time and has only been independent since August 17, 1945.

There is still no real tourist infrastructure in the whole of Indonesia, but that is what makes it so authentic.

Bali, on the other hand, is, I have to say, "unfortunately" now very touristy, but here too you can find quiet places in the high season and Bali is cheaper and quieter in the off-season.

I find nature impressive. The forests, beaches and the underwater world. Indonesia is one of the largest rainforest areas in the world.

Belief and religion, most of the residents are Muslims about 88%, Christians about 10% and about 2% Hindus, they live on Bali and Lombok. There have also been clashes here, which unfortunately ended in blood, and most Muslims feel the same way we do, because it's a small one

How do I get to the other islands?

For long distances, it is advisable to take the plane. But if you just want to go from island to island, you can also do it by boat between some of them. Of course, the plane is usually faster.

The best way to find hotels is via Booking, you can even reserve homestays and houses here.

To eat and drink

Far cheaper than in Europe, especially the fish. I'm not really a fan of fish but in Indonesia I love grilled fish, shrimp and also mussels.

Chicken Sate and Nasi Goreng come from Indonesia.
