SRI LANKA-Buddha

The island of Sri Lanka, like many other countries in Asia, is called the land of smiles

When I think of Sri Lanka, I think of tea plantations, green jungles and nature reserves. Sri Lanka's colonial past has left its mark, especially in Galle, Colombo, Kandy, but also in Ella in the highlands. A lot of the colonial buildings in Galle are now boutique hotels and I think it's a nice way of preserving the buildings.

People and Religions in Sri Lanka

Again and again there are arguments about religion, power and money, and Sri Lanka is not spared either. Most people are Buddhists about 70% and for me the Buddhist teaching is simply the most natural way for people, of course there are exceptions here too. The people here are very religious. One of my best travel memories comes from Kandy. My family didn't really feel like going to the Temple of the Tooth early, so I leave before sunrise. When the temple opened, there are no tour groups here, I was the only tourist and was warmly welcomed.

Kandy Temple

A large family took me into their middle and we were pushed together through the entrance tunnel. Grandma put flowers in my hair and a little girl and I connected with a smile. The devotees bring food and offerings to where the tooth of the Buddha is kept. Out of respect, I went behind the barrier, where they prayed, but the nice family pulled me with them. You may not find this experience half as great as I do, but I'm still in tears today. Respect is answered with respect. It is in all our nature, but unfortunately, we have forgotten it.

Take a cure and enjoy an Ayurveda cure & yoga

Even the translation of Ayurveda, from Sanskrit says it - "knowledge of life"

The Indian art of healing is an alternative medicine, even if it is often referred as wellness in the West. But it is better to treat your body to one or two weeks of this cure than none at all. Who knows, you might discover things like me that you can incorporate into your daily routine. Your body and your soul will thank you.
